Courtland Reichman Wins Intellectual Property Lawyer of the Year at 2025 California Legal Awards

Courtland Reichman

Courtland Reichman was named Intellectual Property Lawyer of the Year at the 2025 California Legal Awards, presented by The Recorder and Law.com. The award recognizes an attorney who makes significant contributions to IP law through their work in areas like litigation, patents, trademarks, and copyrights.

Courtland earned this recognition for his trial victories. He led Kove IO to a $673 million win in its patent infringement case against Amazon Web Services (AWS). The largest standing jury verdict in a patent case of 2024 and the 9th largest in the past decade, it was also ranked 13th in Law.com’s VerdictSearch “Top 100 Verdicts” of 2024.

In addition to the Kove win, Courtland also secured an $84 million willful patent infringement verdict for Cirba Inc. against VMware in a case involving virtualization technology. Despite VMware’s strong legal defense, Courtland simplified complex technical issues and demonstrated the market value of Cirba’s innovations, leading to another favorable jury verdict.
