Sean McCarthy Joins RJLF in New York Office
Sean McCarthy
Sean McCarthy has joined our team as counsel in our New York office. Sean is an experienced litigator who focuses on technology-related patent disputes in U.S. district courts, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
With a strong technical foundation in mechanical engineering, Sean brings deep industry knowledge across a broad range of technologies, including consumer products, industrial equipment, LED lighting, medical devices, and smartphones.
He has managed all phases of litigation—from pre-suit investigation through appeal—and has represented both patent owners and petitioners in Inter Partes Review proceedings before the PTAB. He has also argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Prior to joining RJLF, Sean spent over a decade at Venable LLP (following its acquisition of Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto), where he led case management, handled numerous depositions, and drafted substantive briefs and appellate arguments.
He earned a J.D., magna cum laude, from the Brooklyn Law School as well as both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Manhattan College.
