Zach Jacobs is a trial lawyer who represents clients in high-stakes patent litigation cases across a wide range of industries and technologies, including data mining, artificial intelligence, computer vision, medical devices, and consumer products.

Known for his strategic thinking and calm under pressure, Zach is deeply engaged in all phases of the litigation process. He has drafted motions, taken depositions, and briefed appeals. He is particularly skilled at distilling complex technical disputes down to their core—without losing sight of the big picture.

Before joining the firm, Zach practiced at both a boutique intellectual property firm and a full-service national law firm. He also served as a law clerk for the Honorable Kathryn C. Davis at the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, where he helped resolve complex cases against the federal government involving patent infringement, bid protests, takings claims, tax controversies, military pay claims, and tribal claims.

Zach graduated from Berkeley Law, where he was an editor of the Berkeley Technology Law Journal and a finalist in a national moot court competition. Zach also externed for the Honorable Amos Mazzant, III, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, and interned for the Honorable Mark A. Kearney, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Zach completed his undergraduate degree at Temple University, where he graduated from the Honors Program. His thesis focused on disease prevention through water quality improvements. He conducted laboratory experiments using silver nanoparticles for point-of-use water purification. His findings were published in national research journals and presented at national conferences.


Representative Matters

  • Successfully represented Rule14, a technology and data mining company, in a high-stakes patent infringement lawsuit against UiPath Inc., securing a favorable settlement before trial. The case, filed in the Eastern District of Texas, involved Rule14’s patented process optimization technology, central to industries like government, healthcare, and retail, with potential damages reaching nine figures.

  • Representing XtreamEdge, Inc. and Concurrent Ventures, LLC in a high-stakes patent infringement case against AMD in the Western District of Texas. The case involves data processing unit (DPU) technology, invented by the clients, which enhances GPU performance for AI applications. Additionally, leading three inter partes review (IPR) proceedings at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) related to the case.

  • Representing Broadcom Inc. in multiple patent infringement lawsuits and appeals against Netflix, Inc. in the Northern District of California, involving video streaming technologies.


Community & Professional Activities

Zach is deeply committed to pro bono work. As a member of the RJLF team honored at the 2025 Pro Bono Publico Awards, he contributed to the firm’s efforts supporting the Legal Aid Society of New York and its clients. His advocacy includes representing unaccompanied minors in immigration proceedings—where he has conducted multiple direct examinations in court—protecting survivors of domestic violence, supporting disabled veterans, and combating cruelty to farm animals.

Recent highlights include:

  • Played a pivotal role in a significant pro bono effort, collaborating with RJLF and The Legal Aid Society of New York to secure the release of L.R.C., a Venezuelan national with no criminal record, from Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center. In December 2025, argued before Judge Donnelly (E.D.N.Y.), who ordered L.R.C. to be freed within 24 hours, along with the return of his personal property. The court also ensured that L.R.C. could not be detained again without due process.

  • Representing a disabled veteran in a case seeking reimbursement for taxes improperly imposed by the Government.
