RJLF Secures Federal Circuit Win for Farmers Edge Against AGI SureTrack
Reichman Jorgensen Lehman & Feldberg LLP (RJLF) secured a decisive victory for Farmers Edge at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, which affirmed that five patents asserted against the company are invalid. The ruling eliminates AGI SureTrack's infringement claims and clears the path for Farmers Edge to seek recovery of its attorney's fees.
AGI SureTrack had claimed patent rights over technology used to automatically collect, process, and share data from farming equipment. The Federal Circuit rejected those claims, holding that the patents covered nothing more than an abstract idea executed with generic computer components. Under patent law, that is not enough to qualify for patent protection. The court also sent the case back to the district court to reconsider whether AGI SureTrack's litigation conduct warrants an award of attorney's fees to Farmers Edge.
Partner Nathan Mammen argued the case before the Federal Circuit, with Cole Tipton on the brief. The decision, AGI SureTrack LLC v. Farmers Edge Inc., Nos. 2024-1730, 2024-1830, was issued on June 2, 2026.
