Crain’s New York Business has selected RJLF partner and trial lawyer Jaime Cardenas-Navia for its 2025 40 Under 40 list.

Jaime has built a reputation for successfully taking on major tech companies. He recently played a key role in securing a $673 million patent infringement award for tech startup Kove against Amazon Web Services and helped secure a $27 million award for Droplets in a patent dispute with Yahoo. Jaime is currently representing clients in ongoing cases against Meta, Google, and Netflix.

A Colorado native raised in Texas, Jaime holds dual bachelor’s degrees in engineering and economics from Swarthmore College. After gaining early experience at the U.S. Patent Office, he pursued a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and began his legal career in New York.

Jaime found his passion in litigation, focusing primarily on patent disputes.

“I graduated from college and didn’t know what I wanted to do,” he said. However, his interactions with patent attorneys sparked his interest in law. “I realized that my favorite part of the job was gearing up for those meetings,” he said.

He is also dedicated to giving back, mentoring aspiring attorneys through LatinoJustice PRLDEF, and handling pro bono cases that support equity and opportunity for underserved communities.

“I always try to have a pro bono case going on,” Jaime notes, underscoring the impact of legal advocacy on individual lives.
