Natalie Griffin focuses on high-stakes intellectual property and complex commercial litigation. She has contributed to securing multimillion-dollar verdicts and managing intricate disputes involving patent infringement, trade secrets, and breach of contract claims.

Most recently, she clerked for the Honorable Cheryl Ann Krause of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

During law school, Natalie served as an Articles Editor for The University of Chicago Law Review and worked as a research assistant for Professor Jonathan Masur. As part of the Abrams Environmental Law Clinic, she led a team representing the Center for Biological Diversity and the Hoosier Environmental Council. Her team brought litigation against the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service for violations of the Endangered Species Act, successfully negotiating and recovering attorneys’ fees from the Department of Justice. Natalie also collaborated with economists to author amicus briefs on calculating the cost of climate damages in federal decision-making.

Natalie earned her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School, where she received two prestigious honors: the Rubenstein Scholarship, a three-year, full-tuition, merit-based award, and the Kirkland & Ellis Scholar distinction, given to the top 5% of the first-year (1L) class.

Representative Matters

  • Contributed to securing an $84 million patent infringement verdict for Cirba involving virtualization technology. Worked on witness preparation, briefing, deposition designations, and assisted with summary judgment briefing and pretrial motions. Law.com’s VerdictSearch named the win among the “Top 100 Verdicts” of 2023 (50th largest verdict).

  • Represented Oldcastle and CRL, leading architectural hardware supply companies, in a multi-hundred-million-dollar dispute involving breach of contract, patent infringement, trade secret misappropriation, and claims under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. Tasked with case management, briefing, including dispositive motions, and deposition discovery. The matter spanned AAA arbitration, federal court, California state court, and bankruptcy court.

  • Represented Wenger S.A. in the Western District of Texas, defending allegations of patent infringement relating to backpacks with USB charging capabilities.

  • Representing Bruker Cellular Analysis in litigation in the Northern District of California concerning alleged infringement of antibody discovery technology.
