Letitia Chai is a litigator with a focus on complex commercial, intellectual property, and white collar disputes. She has worked on high-stakes cases involving criminal fraud, patent infringement, trade secrets, and emerging technologies.

Letitia’s experience includes drafting dispositive motions and preparing witnesses in cases involving cutting-edge technologies. She has also conducted interviews, participated in proffers, and contributed to trial preparation in high-profile criminal litigation. Her work spans industries such as blockchain technology, artificial intelligence, life sciences, and renewable energy.

Prior to joining RJLF, Letitia served as a clerk for the Honorable Edward M. Chen at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

Letitia graduated from Yale Law School, where she advised early-stage founders as part of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Clinic. She also served as the Communications Chair of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association.

Before law school, Letitia graduated summa cum laude from Cornell University with a B.A. in Peace and Conflict Studies through the College Scholar Program. She was recognized with numerous honors, including the Phi Beta Kappa Scholarship Prize and the Freeman Prize in Peace Studies.

Letitia speaks English, Korean, and French. She is a certified yoga instructor and enjoys surfing, designing clothes, and making art.

Representative Matters

  • Represented former FTX executive in criminal and civil investigations the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, the SEC, and CFTC, resulting in no prison time.

  • Represented payments startup and venture capital firm as plaintiffs in a post-acquisition fraud and breach of contract action in the Delaware Court of Chancery.

  • Represented leading lithium-silicon battery materials company as plaintiff in a trade secret misappropriation and breach of contract action against a competitor in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.

Community & Professional Activities

Letitia is a member of the Asian American Bar Association.

In addition, Letitia is dedicated to pro bono work, using her experience to advocate for underserved communities. Her pro bono efforts span federal criminal defense, immigration advocacy, and civil rights, including:

  • Through the Criminal Justice Act: Represented individuals in federal criminal cases involving charges of racketeering conspiracy and extortion conspiracy, among other charges, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York

  • With Kids in Need of Defense (KIND): Represented a minor child in immigration proceedings and obtained humanitarian immigration relief.

  • With the Legal Aid Society of New York: Representing a Venezuelan immigrant to challenge unlawful detention in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
