Khue Hoang is Co-Managing Partner of Reichman Jorgensen Lehman & Feldberg LLP’s New York office. Recognized among Crain’s “Notable Women in Law,” Khue has more than 20 years of experience representing clients in high-stakes patent infringement and licensing disputes. Benchmark Litigation recognizes Khue as a “Litigation Star,” and Profiles in Diversity Journal named her a 2022 “Woman Worth Watching in STEM.” IAM Patent 1000 also features Khue as one of the nation’s leading patent lawyers, and Lawdragon recognizes Khue among the 500 Leading Litigators in America.

A former semiconductor engineer, Khue infuses her technical background and industry insights with her courtroom skills to effectively guide clients through their most complex intellectual property issues. She works closely with clients and experts to absorb complex technologies and craft effective strategies to protect and enforce their interests.

Khue represents companies across a broad range of sectors, including telecommunications, data storage, consumer electronics, and medical devices. Her clients have included Fortune 100 companies as well as small enterprises responsible for developing landscape-changing technologies. Khue also advises clients on intellectual property and privacy issues affecting M&A, private equity, and complex business disputes.

Khue is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine, where she earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, and the University of California, San Diego, where she was a Powell Fellow and was awarded an M.S. in Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis in semiconductor physics. She received her law degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS

  • Secured a $525 million patent infringement verdict for Kove IO against Amazon Web Services, marking the highest patent victory to date in 2024 and the 9th largest patent verdict in the past decade. The trial win earned Law360’s “Legal Lions of the Week” honor.

  • Won a $236 million patent infringement verdict for Densify against tech giant VMware—a verdict recognized in The National Law Journal's 2021 "Verdicts Hall of Fame" (7th largest verdict in past five years) and 2020 “Top 100 Verdicts” (8th largest verdict in the U.S.).

  • Secured an $84 million willful patent infringement verdict on behalf of Cirba, Inc. (d/b/a Densify) against VMware, following a five-day jury trial in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. Law.com’s VerdictSearch named the win among the “Top 100 Verdicts” of 2023 (50th largest verdict).

  • Won post-trial motions for a total award of $27 million for client Droplets against tech giant Yahoo. The judgment upheld a $15 million patent infringement verdict and ordered an additional $12 million in pre- and post-judgment interest. The original $15 million verdict was awarded after a three-week jury trial. After the Yahoo verdict, also secured a favorable settlement for Droplets in the consolidated case against Nordstrom.

  • Represented patent owner CardioNet in multiple district court actions against direct competitors involving cardiac monitoring technologies, resulting in highly favorable settlements for client.

  • Represented patent owner Motorola Mobility in a multi-patent ITC investigation against Microsoft involving importation of Xbox gaming devices; Motorola won a favorable Initial Determination as to some of the patents but the Commission remanded the decision for consideration of intervening events; Motorola subsequently dropped the infringed patents following a settlement with the FTC regarding injunctive relief for standards essential patents.

  • Represented a leading security company in an arbitration involving indemnification claims stemming from a patent infringement dispute, resulting in a full victory for the client.

  • Defended manufacturer of defibrillators, Defibtech, in a district court action brought by a multinational direct competitor; the dispute was resolved through a licensing agreement.
